TAN CARE
PRE APPOINTMENT TANNING TIPS
PREPARATION
For the absolute best results, the following pre tanning tips should be taken for your flawless customized tan!
Prior to your appointment, it is highly recommended to fully exfoliate the day before your appointment. Timing is crucial! Using an exfoliating mitt is recommended and scrub is recommended. Please be sure any products used for exfoliating are non-oil based.
Staying hydrated the week of, leading up to your appointment is key!
Any hair removal, waxing and shaving should be done 24 hours before your appointment.
Avoid showering and shaving within 12 hours of your session. If you must shower right before please just rinse with cool water, do not use any products that may cling to the skin and block your tan from developing.
Make sure to properly remove any previous self-tanner or spray tan.
Any makeup, face moisturizer, or deodorant should be removed before your appointment with cool water.
Please avoid dove soap before coming to your appointment and anytime after your appointment, while maintaining the tan.
If you are using any topical creams, acne products, anti-aging products, Retinol or Retin-A, we recommend stopping the use of them 5-7 days prior to your appointment.
When preparing for the appointment please be sure to arrive with no lotions, make up, deodorant, oils, or perfume on!
All nail treatments such as manicures or pedicures should be done before the tanning session. If preferred to have nails done after the spray tan, please be sure to avoid any soaking, scrubbing, and lotions – just the nail work is okay. If nails are done right before the appointment, please be sure to remove any oils or lotions that may have been applied at the nail salon. Moisturizers and oils may act as a blockade to the tanning solution so it is very important to avoid any products on your skin when arriving for your appointment.
Schedule all beauty services 1-2 days prior to your appointment. (facials, massages, waxing, brows, lashes, etc.) A spray tan is the last step on your prep list!
Wear very dark loose fitted clothing for after your tanning session. Please no tank tops or jeans. It is important to avoid anything rubbing against your skin during your tan developing and up until your first rinse.
In inclimate weather please wear a jacket, long pants, and boots. You want to be sure you avoid any rain, sweating, or water on your skin while your spray tan is still developing.
You may wear anything you would like during your session.
Please avoid sun exposure or burning from the sun leading up to your spray tan appointment. If you have experienced sunburn in the last 3-4 weeks prior to your spray tan appointment or have recent damaged skin from the sun, there is a risk of peeling through the spray tan. Wearing sunscreen to protect your skin is extremely important!

POST APPOINTMENT TANNING TIPS
Wait the given amount of processing time until showering. Your artist will inform you of the proper rinse time after your session! This amount of processing time is very important for the proper development of the tan.
When airbrushed with our Original solution: Wait at least 8-12 hours after your appointment before rinsing. This will allow your tan to fully develop.
When airbrushed with our Express solution: Depending on your artists suggestion on rinse time - wait at least 3-5 hours after your appointment before rinsing. This will allow your tan to fully develop.
While waiting for your tan to fully develop, please be sure to stay away from water, avoid skin to skin contact, be gentle with your skin, and avoid exercise or activities that will cause you to sweat. Staying in a cool area is best!
When you take your first rinse after your airbrush appointment, use lukewarm water only! Keeping your first rinse short is recommended.
It is normal to see color washing off in the shower - don't worry, this is normal! You want to fully rinse off that bronzer and stand in the shower until the water is fully clear and the tan looks even! Once done, double check for any dark areas, uneven areas or "streaks". If you notice anything like this, please get back in the shower and continue to rinse! This means the bronzer is not fully rinsed off.
Avoid the use of any soaps, shaving, hair washing, etc. during your first rinse.
After your first rinse, be sure to pat dry with your towel gently instead of rubbing the towel on your skin and then you want to fully moisturize your entire body!
Moisturizing twice a day is highly recommended! This will help your tan last longer and it is great for keeping your skin hydrated!
Always wear loose, dark clothing until rinse time. If you are processing over night it is important to wear long loose pants and a long loose shirt to bed! This will help avoid touching your skin while you are sleeping.
Aftercare products are CRUCIAL for your tan. A tan extending lotion and a spray tan soap will give your glow the love it deserves. We have everything you need in studio or we suggest brands such as aveeno, cetaphil and shea moisture.
Mineral oils, petroleum, alcohol, parabens and sulfates found in most creams and body washes can cause your tan to fade unevenly and prematurely. So be sure to check your product ingredient list!
Keeping your body moisturized is key to keeping the tan hydrated. Hydrated skin makes for an amazing, long-lasting tan. Drinking tons of water to stay hydrated is also key!
Anti-aging products, AHAs (glycolic, lactic, malic & tartaric acids), Retin-A, Tretinoin, Renova, toners, Accutane, salicylic acid and similar products can cause your tan to fade quicker.
If you are a regular tanner, please be sure to exfoliate your tan off prior to a new application! This will ensure amazing, even and long-lasting results! We offer exfoliaitng mitts and an amazing tan removing scrub in studio or on our online shop!
Tips to keep in mind while maintaining your tan:
Hot tubs, swimming pools, and long baths can shorten the life of your tan. We recommend keep your showers short and avoiding super hot water while maintaining your tan.
Avoid any sort of exfoliating and scrubbing, including: scrubs, loofahs, and mitts which all can also shorten the life of your tan. Patting dry after showers is key!
Moisturizers and soaps containing alcohol and any oil will strip your tan and cause it to fade quickly. Use a high-quality moisturizer that doesn’t contain these ingredients and is designed to prolong your tan.
Recommended Soap: We offer an amazing spray tan safe bar soap in studio and on our online shop! Our proprietary blend of liquid goat milk formulated with skin-loving ingredients provides a sunless safe experience that cleanses and moisturizes for a longer lasting bronze.
Other Recommended Soap Options: Dial bar soap or aveeno soap – anything but dove is okay! Please avoid Dove or anything that includes heavy fragrance.
Recommended Lotion: We offer a deeply nourishing body lotion designed to heal, hydrate, and restore your skin from head to toe. Amazing to use post tan daily to maintain your spray tan. Available in studio or on our online shop!
Other Recommended Body Lotions: Aveeno lotion. Sticking to a plain, natural, fragrance-free moisturizer is best.
